Visit from Seoul National University (08/14/2026)

Two faculty members and 20 graduate & undergraduate students from the Department of Energy Resources Engineering at Seoul National University of Korea visited Dr. Lee’s research group and laboratory. Dr. Lee gave a research presentation on “From Reactions to Resources: Identifying and Producing Lithium from Brines.” The students could have an opportunity to learn about release, transport, and accumulation of lithium in formation brines, followed by the pre-processing of produced water for efficient lithium extraction. Afterwards, the students had a laboratory tour and learned about advanced characterization instruments for rock and fluid.

Dr. Lee presented at the Bureau of Economic Geology Seminar Series, on the topic of “Identifying the Production Potential of Lithium in Shale Reservoirs.”

Dr. Lee presented at the UT PGE Graduate Seminar Series, on the topic of “Identifying a New Source of Lithium from Petroleum Source Rock Brines.”


Presentation at Energy Institute High School (11/09/2021)

Dr. Lee presented for the junior students of Energy Institute High School in Houston, on the topic of “Roles of Energy Engineers in Clean Energy Transition.” Students could hear from Dr. Lee about 1) what petroleum engineers do, 2) lithium in high demand with energy transition, 3) lithium in petroleum source rock brines, 4) insights for future career in energy, and 5) experiences as a woman energy engineer.


Presentation at Young Women’s Collage Preparatory School (04/26/2021)

Dr. Lee presented for the students of Young Women’s Collage Preparatory School in Houston, regarding the role of energy engineer and vision of women engineers. Panel discussion was followed by the presentation and Q&A session. The students could have an opportunity to consult about their future career paths as women scientists and engineers.
